Creatures of Habit- Finding The road less traveled

Good Morning!! Happy Tuesday...

We Humans-being are all-or-nothing....... Sometimes change seems insurmountable, so we don't bother, even if the change would create a better reality.

We get trapped in routine, we have become part of the "machine of daily living".

This is our personal illusion.....It is a Habit  6 : a settled tendency or usual manner of behavior 7 a : a behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows itself in regularity or increased facility of performance b : an acquired mode of behavior that has become nearly or completely involuntary c : ADDICTION

It's "interesting" that the synonym for habit is "addiction"......

Habits are Addictive, and while we are in the cycle of habits, we can loose days, years and lifetimes to them... Like Rip Van Winkle...

The best way to break a habit, or routine is to divert from it in some small way......

I have, out of habit, driven to Downtown Cleveland, and then realized I was there, but had no intention of going Downtown...That is the force of a habit.....

Have you ever answered the phone at home, "This is Marianne, thank you for calling XYZ company?" I have.....

Our lives are filled with little things we do, ritually, without thinking.....

Get off the highway, and drive through the city on your way home.... Take a different route... Instead of eating inside, eat your dinner outside..... Take a walk in your neighborhood.... Run through someone's sprinkler. Look for interesting rocks in a river, creek or stream......

Change your routine, just a little.... We are creatures of habit, changes can be made very slowly, and eventually you will find yourself being more adventuresome, or saying hello to strangers, shopping in different stores ... going to new neighborhoods ... trying new restaurants...opening yourself to diversity....Looking forward to quiet time by the stream....

It creates a chain effect...You begin seeing your personal space in a new way, cleaning out closets, going through your wardrobe, getting out more...

Whatever it is that you do, have fun doing it.. And before you know it, those habits will change......

And life just might be a little more interesting....

Here is the thought for the day!

Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow
Has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide...
