Taking an emotional TIME OUT !! New Moon in May

Good Morning all!!!!!

Thursday, May 7th is the new moon.

Again, for the newcomers on the list, the new moon is the dark moon, it is a time of barrenness for 3 days. Of making plans, and dreams and reflection on the past month, and the future month.   It is a time of Mourning, and Creating.

If women spend enough time in Nature, especially at night, we would begin to cycle with our menstrual at the time of the new moon. Just like our Moontime, it is a time of mourning the barrenness, of the previous month, and preparing for the possibility of life in the coming month. Even if we are not planning to be pregnant, we focus that creative energy in "creating" something new.

This applies to men also. Men have a female part of them that is naturally more emotional; feeling the pull of emotion at the New and Full moon. Rather than "sucking it up" and repressing this natural flow of emotion. Make a safe place, without interruption to have a "release".

This is a sacred thing, we need to respect the sacred space of everyone during this time, to be left alone with their thoughts, not take their moodiness personal, allow them their "space". The focus should be on ourselves, walking our own path, our  going within, our sacred time alone, to think, plan and dream. Making plans for the net 30 days.

For those of you who have adopted this practice, I would appreciate your feedback so we can share it (anonymously of course) with the rest of the group.

I have come to look forward to these times, it is like a purposeful "time out". It reduces stress the rest of the month, and things flow much better. I buy all my favorite comfort foods, gather my good books, get a few sappy movies guaranteed to make me think, cry or both!!!  Get some craft items in case I get inspired and spend a day or two indulging my emotional self. Mourning the plans that did not come together in the previous month, and creating new dreams for the next.

Have a happy and fun filled weekend!!! Here is the thought for the day!!

"People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering."

This little light of Mine! Care for the Body

Good Morning all !!!! Our bodies.....

For many of us, it brings up negative feelings, guilt and avoidance....Once again, our society places so much emphasis on physical beauty, that the rest is out of balance. Emotional health, Spiritual well being. If all of these were in balance, such demand for perfection would be meaningless...

So, since our perception of the "perfect" physical form is not ours, we treat or body like an enemy. It is not beautiful, so I will abuse it..... I drive it, I deny it rest, I do not adorn it, or service it. But it keeps running.

Recently, I had to address some Karma  (Basic Buddhism: The Theory of Karma Click here for explanation) from this existence. I have not always been kind or considerate to my body. In fact, in spite of my treatment, it continues to sustain me life.

I was recently reminded by a mentor of mine, that the body is a gift. I asked for it from Creator and the Universe before I came here.  I chose this vessel, my ship, I am to ride in through this existence. Why do I punish it so?  It did me no wrong; my anger and frustration is displaced. Why do I not honor the gift that it is, a blessing?   (Yikes, I never thought of it that way.)

My change in consciousness was that; This gift, my body, is to be cherished, it is the only one I have.  It may not be perfect, but I love it, like a Mother loves a child. I have punished the body because I made bad choices, and try not to do that any more.

When my Spirit was in pain, the body received the punishment.

My vessel I know now, is my church, my temple, it houses a piece of God, and through Namaste (Namaste - The Significance of a Yogic Greeting) I see that God light in all living things, especially my own, and see beyond the physical self.

As we heal, mentally, and Spiritually, we will naturally heal physically. Then we will be able to see in how we treat our temple, how we are doing, on other levels.

I also can now see how others treat their vessel as a way of telling me how they are doing Spiritually, and emotionally.

Today, friends, look in the mirror and Namaste; See the piece of God that is in you.. honor it, lovingly tend it, nurture the self, it is a gift, it is priceless.

Here is the thought for the day:

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you never walk alone.

We leave you a tradition of the future. The tender loving care of human beings will never become obsolete.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, redeemed and redeemed and redeemed. Never throw anyone away.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.

As you grow older, you'll discover that you have two hands: One for helping yourself, the second for helping others.
You have great days still ahead of you. May there be many of them

Being present in the Now

Good Morning all!!

Being Present. This has become a catch phrase. To be truly present means not thinking about what was said or done yesterday, and not thinking about later, or tomorrow or creating scenarios in your mind to be played out years from now, or become distracted while listening to another. Rather than focusing on what you are doing, right now. I encourage you all to read, The power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle

Being present requires we take the focus off ourselves....

We as a society, talk too much and do little listening. We all want to be heard. No one listens to our sacred point of view, because no one is present while we are talking.

What a vicious cycle.

We do not know how to be still and present while communicating, or thinking. This is why being still is so important, It trains us to remain present, because, no one is more important that the person in our personal space at that moment.

I have done this as well; as many of you that are nodding in agreement!

When we are not present, we are not honoring another's sacred point of view.

I had an acquaintance that would look at her reflection in any reflective surface. A window, glass, mirror, spoon, while I was talking. Was she not present? Yes. Ignoring me, not intentionally. But how she looked overweighed our conversation. To say the least, she ended up alone with her reflection, and could not understand why she could not connect with men, or women for that matter.

I run into an old acquaintance... I ask, what's new? They begin to tell me, and my mind begins to wander, to the grocery list in my purse, the conflict I had with my spouse before I left the house. Meanwhile, my acquaintance says, are you okay?

As I am called back from my distraction..... Have I honored them? No.

Our children need us to be present truly listening when they begin to share their personal truth. Being present and connected with our children encourages them to be free to express themselves, and creates ongoing dialog. We want to continue this way of communicating through their challenging years. They will know that we are listening, really hearing what is said, and what is not. We must be PRESENT in order to Hear the nuance.

Today, Oh normal day, make an effort to really listen, and observe what is distracting you, make note of the distraction, and give it it's time to be solved, and finished.

Here is the thought for the day:

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.

Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.

One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return."

Diversity of Faith

Good Morning everyone!!!!

Recently I was observing in a Spirituality chat room. What I witnessed was individuals of diverse faiths converging, arguing the correctness of their path. Each with the need to be right and then criticize each other.

There is no right, it is whatever spiritual language that you understand. Whatever makes you "get it".... get your connectedness to the Source, The light, Yahweh, Jehovah, Creator, Goddess, God, or G - -.   Whether that is Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Pagan, Wicca, Muslim,  or many pieces from different sources. Or none at all.

Whatever it is that makes you a better Spiritual being on your Human path. Or not :)

All I can be is the best Spiritual me I can be, and by observing me, others may find faith too. Or not. :)

The Beauty is the diversity of the palate of colors that make up the rainbow of Faith. Some days, just having faith is a challenge, regardless of which one!

Here is the thought for the Day;

There are hundreds of paths up the mountain,
all leading in the same direction,
So it doesn't matter which path you take.
The only one wasting time is the one
who runs around and around the mountain,
Telling everyone else that their path is wrong.

The courage to change

Good Morning and Happy Monday to everyone!!

We are Spiritual beings, having a human experience....... Let's take a minute and reflect on this...

Our Human existence is filled with deadlines and drama, ego and control. We create this illusion.

So if we are dissatisfied with it, we are the only ones that can change it.

To stay in a place that is no longer a good fit, is not fair to you, and equally unfair to the others in your space. By not releasing them, you are forcing yourself and them into missing new opportunities that are being presented by the Universe, Creator, the Source. Opportunities to grow and evolve.

Our WANT overrides the universe presenting us with what we NEED.

Today's thought for the day teaches us to release the ego of control and be aware of our surroundings and have the courage to leave the "nest".

Here is the thought for the day:

The Mother Eagle Teaches her little ones to fly by making their nest so uncomfortable that they are forced to leave it and commit themselves to the unknown world of air outside.

And just so does our God to us.

In memory of pets

In memory of pumpkin and Ashley :)

In Memory of all our pets
who we know are more than just furry friends.
With the knowing look they tell us
that they are reading our thoughts,
feeling our pain,
loving us unconditionally.

They force us to be present,
to pay attention;
these deliverers of messages.

For all our friends in the Animal tribe,
here on the Good Red Road,
and those who have taken the Blue Road of Spirit,
Thank you.

And one day,
when it comes time for us to drop our robe
and take that Journey,
there they will be,
waiting faithfully
to greet us once again.

Full Moon, Spring, Release

Good Morning,

Well, today it seems the April rains begin, washing away the dust from winter, watering all of our little plant friends, bringing life back. Maybe wash some of the pollen away!!!  aaaachooo

In preparation for the full moon, let's think about letting something go this month, forgive someone (yourself maybe)? Ask for forgiveness? Take ownership for your part in a divorce or relationship breakup? We cannot move forward if we want to drag the past along with us.  To have the same, negative emotions arise, over and over and then repress them is unhealthy for our Spirit, and our physical body

Pick one thing today, write about it. Maybe a letter.... Then mail it, or burn it, or bury it, but in completing this, you will be making a choice to be finished with it. As you send it off, visualize that old energy going with it....If you have any questions regarding this, let me know... :)    Have a great day!

Here is the thought for the day

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.
Alan Cohen

Full Moon Clearing

Today's thought for the day is from one of our "Villagers"

The full moon is coming Thursday  04.21.05 and will last for 3 days.  It will begin to wane on Monday. So the feeling of welling emotion is not your imagination. The full Moon is a time of releasing things; emotion, clutter, old thoughts and feelings like in old journals. I find that creating a ritual of release is not only liberating, but thought provoking, and since these happen every month, we come to look forward to it!  I keep a bin for discarding old papers to release to "Creator." We then, during the Full moon put these things in our fire pit.  I even put some of my child's daily work from school. It is a way for him to see me honor all of his hard work for the month. He takes pride in "sharing" his monthly efforts with the universe, rather than dishonoring it by throwing it away. The rest we recycle. So let the emotions flow, it's cleansing,  Like a Spiritual bath. Any questions or comments feel free to email me. Have a Great Day!

Thought for the day!!

A group of professional people posed this question to
a group of 4 - 8 year-olds:  "What does love mean?"
The answers they received were broader and deeper
than anyone could have imagined.  See what you think.

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend
over and paint her toenails anymore, so my grandfather
does it for her all the time, even when his hands got
 arthritis too.  That's love."
Rebecca, age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name
is different.  You just know that your name is safe in
their mouth."
Billy, age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on
shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Karl, age 5

"Love is when  you go out to eat and you give somebody
most of your French fries without making them give you
any of theirs."
 Chrissy, age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri, age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy
and she takes a sip before giving it to him to make sure
the taste is OK."
Danny, age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time.  Then, when you
get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and
you talk more.  My mommy and daddy are like that.
They look gross when they kiss."
Emily, age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if
you stop opening presents and listen."
 Bobby, age 7     (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start
with a friend who you hate."
 Nikka, age 6
(We need a few million more Nikkas on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, and
then he wears it everyday."
Noelle, age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man
who are still friends even after they know each other
so well."
Tommy, age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was
scared.  I looked at all the people watching me, and
I saw my daddy waving and smiling at me.  He was
the only one doing that.  I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy, age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody.  You don't
see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare, age 6

"Love is when mommy gives daddy the best piece
of chicken."
Elaine, age 5

"Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty
and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris, age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you
 left him alone all day."
Mary Ann, age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me
all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren, age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and
down and little stars come out of you."
Karen, age 7    (What an image!)

"Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and she
doesn't think it's gross."
Mark, age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it.
But if you mean it, youshould say it a lot, 'cause people
forget."
Jessica, age 8

AND . . . . Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked
about a contest he was asked to judge.  The purpose of
the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door
neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost
his wife.  Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into
the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat
there.  When his mother asked what he had said to the
neighbor, the little boy replied, "Nothing.  I just helped him cry."

Blessings

Here is the thought for the day, remember to stop and be grateful for the blessings we take for granted every day

“Prayer For The Children”

Ina Hughs
Newspaper Reporter for the Knoxville News
Author of the book:  A Prayer For Children

We pray for the children who sneak Popsicles before supper, who erase holes in math workbooks, who can never find their shoes. And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire, who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers, who never "counted potatoes," who never go to the circus, who live in an X-rated world.

We pray for children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions, who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money. And we pray for those who never get dessert, who have no safe blanket to drag behind them, who watch their parents watch them die, who can't find any bread to steal, who don't have any rooms to clean up, whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser, whose monsters are real.

We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday, who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food, who like ghost stories, who shove dirty clothes under the bed, who never rinse out the tub, who get visits from the tooth fairy, who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool, who squirm in church and scream in the phone, whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.

And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything, who have never seen a dentist, who aren't spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move, but have no being. We pray for children who want to be carried and for those who must, who we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance. For those we smother and...for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.

Sending Love today

Hello all, the full moon is coming April 24. Here's to having a great day!!!

I will greet this day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? Henceforth will I look on all things with love and be born again. I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit. I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars. I will welcome happiness as it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge.

Hearing the Message, seeing the signs

Sometimes we cannot hear the message of our purpoose and direction because we are unable to silence "life" long enough to listen. Messages are coming to us from many different sources. The things that happen to confirm a thought or feeling are signs, some are subtle, some are obvious. Today, be conscious of signs and messages coming to you, from others, animals, nature, even patterns in the "clouds". Have great day!

Here is the Thought for the Day

A little cloud wandered off to have a talk with Sacred Mountain. "Grandmother Mountain, I have come to ask if your forests need rain today?" she said. "I want to be of Service, and so I thought I better find out what is needed most."

Sacred Mountain told the little cloud that there was plenty of moisture today, but the little one could help in another way. Sacred Mountain taught little cloud how to understand the thoughts and questions that the human beings were having. It was fun for the little cloud to capture the waves of human thought rising from the Earth and to answer the humans unspoken questions by becoming shapes that formed into a series of ideas.

The little cloud approached Sacred Mountain at the end of the day with another question that caused Cloud to have a heavy heart. "Grandmother Mountain, I have worked all day to reflect helpful answers to the Human Tribe, but now I have one very important question. How do we get them to look up and pay attention?"

Dreams, what do they mean?

Dreams…….. What are these mystical movies we see, awake and asleep?

What the heck does getting chased by a polar bear mean?

Swimming in shark-infested waters while carrying a balloon? lol

As wacky as they seem, dreams are when the Universe, Creator, our Guides and Angels get our fearful waking self out of the way, so we can get some much needed guidance.

They get very colorful in order to get our attention so we will decipher their meanings. How many times have you said. “ I had the weirdest dream, I wonder what it means?” We inherently believe in communication in dreams, but cannot possibly see ourselves as clairvoyant beings who get these messages all of the time. We are much more receptive to the meaning of dreams, rather than spending time in meditation, asking for specific guidance.

We trust dreams, when we ignore our own “inner voice”.

There is no one way to interpret what dreams mean, they are seldom literal, they are however full of information…

I would love to have you post some dreams and we will help you unravel their meaning, then you can see how to understand them for yourself.

Emailthem to me and Iwill choose some to post on this blog page.

Sweet Dreams,

Marianne

Living through change!

Transition, how do we survive change?

Transition/Change comes in many forms, birth/death, marriage/divorce, moving, job loss/new job. Transition from child to adult, parent to grandparent.

All transition is Death, some cultures believe that once we leave the Red Road here on Earth, we then begin the journey of the Blue Road Of Spirit. Death is one of many transitions that we experience.

All change/transition requires a "death" of one thing and a "birth" of another. The challenge is allowing a mourning process. Embracing the purposefulness of leaving one thing, and releasing it in order to embrace the new thing. Even rearranging your furniture requires change of perception!

All this energy  can be repressed and we manage through these changes without allowing ourselves to fully mourn,, see the lesson in it and release that energy from our heart, our Spirit.

This is why we came here, to learn things. If we never fully finish with the lessons of past, we will continue to bring it into our future. Inhibiting our growth, postponing love and joy and peace.

We pretend we are strong, we "sucking it up." But true strength comes in allowing the mourning process.  "Sucking it up" is denying our Spirit freedom of expression, freedom to mourn and release that energy.

It is really hard to look at your spiritual trials on the table, and be willing to sort through it with Love. Without blame, guilt or judgment. (Severe emotional trauma should always be handled with a medical professional.)

Our Spirit is only in search of Love and Peace. The freedom of accepting transition requires release of control, acceptance of the greater good and faith. Faith that everything is purposeful, even of the reason is not clear. That every event is for our growth, or the growth of another.

I believe we chose this journey for all of it, the good, bad and the ugly. Only to emerge, bigger, better, stronger and more enlightened in the end.

THE MIRROR OF ILLUSION

Have you ever heard the term, when one finger points out at another, three are pointing back at you?

My personal spiritual belief is that we are all a part of the whole, and a piece of the spirit resides in us all, so everything and everyone is like a piece of me, out there for me to observe.

Since my philosophy is about self reflection, growth and change, I believe that everyone we come into contact with is a Mirror, reflecting back to us a piece of who we are..... Scary huh?

However, we are quick to see the negative behavior in others, and judge them, it is also important to see the beauty in others and find that  beauty in you too.

This takes criticizing and judging others to an observation level. Then turning it back on the self, no longer are we trying to change others, our focus is being a better you.

For instance, lets say there is a hurried and rude person in line at the bank. Complaining all the while about having to wait and how slow the lines are. Our first thought is to think, how rude and annoying! Then we say, well, I did that recently, at the grocery store, taking it out on the cashier.

It is very unpleasant to see your own behavior in others, but, by taking responsibility, and trying to apply it to our daily existance we see how unfair and unattractive it  is for others in our life to deal with our bad behavior.

We must also see the beauty in others and find that beauty in ourself. I observed a friend, who is very thoughtful. It seems natural for them to remember birthdays, remember things you told them and have them check in to see if it turned out alright. By turning that observation within, we see that that is not easy to be thoughtful, it takes organization, and lack of ego. Comitting to be present and focused on the needs of others and bringing them nurturing and comfort.

How can I be more like that? How am I consumed with myself  instead of being of service to others? Seems like a small gesture, but as you see, it is not.

Find the beauty in yourself. Change the things you do not like, and find the beauty way.

By changing you, you change everyone around you.

Taking things personally

What others say cannot make you feel badly, unless you believe it.

If you are hurt by the things others say and take it personally, that is a painful place you have to heal.  But they are not doing it to you, they are just doing it.

Being a victim is selfish.  Believing other peoples poison keeps you swirling in anger and chaos, ruining you day, and the day of those around. You then expect those who love you to re-assure you that your anger is justified and they have to re-assure you all of the time, sometimes against innocent comments. Having to fill your ego with praise, trying to undo the damage. How draining.

How selfish can we  be to think that people with their judgements and opinions "have it out" just for us, when in reality, if you step back from the emotion, you will see that they actually do this same thing to everyone, you are not exclusive to this treatment.

Once you see that others do this because of their own insecurities and unfounded opinions, you become immune to it. It restores your power, defeating your inner victim.

I always say that it is like a rude, careless driver, running people off the road, oblivious to the chaos that lies in their wake. And there you are enraged, and they go on their merry way. So, you race to confront them, you are yelling, gesturing, and they look at you like you are crazy. They have no idea what your problem is. They do not even see that they have done anything wrong. Fueling you anger further. Get the point?

Try to see these people as children, so unsure of who they are that they must judge and condemn others. How sad for them. They create their own unraveling. Guaranteed.

Don't let them unravel you too :)

CYCLES

Cycles... life is full of Cycles;Life cycles, Seasonal cycles, Menstrual cycles, Lunar cycles. All things revolve....Cirlces (cycles) everywhere.

Our society here in the United States, unless you are a farmer, do not honor the presence of cycles. There hardly seems room for all the other cycles, outside of the hamster wheel we are on!!!

But, If we add the other cycles, the daily cycle would be less demanding. In honoring the  cycles, it is like flowing downstream with the current, instead of swimming upstream against the current.

The seasonal cycles offer opportunity for hibernation(Fall/ Winter), rest and rebirth. We do not have to take them literally, but we can be very productive during hibernation, it is a time of planning, creating, preparing, embracing our cave.(Winter Spring), Making ready to bring these ideas and creations out at the  a time of newness, planting, renewal, creation.(Spring/ Summer) To be tended and cared for, soaking up the sun, productivity, recreation. Giving way to (Summer/Fall])a time of harvest, reaping the fruits of our labors. A time to celebrate the changing of the season, getting our cave ready for hibernation, preparing for the quiet death of Winter again. These mirror the life cycles of Birth, Child,  Adult, Elder, then Death.

Sometimes, our cycles are not that natural, they are out of sinc or order, we are fighting the seasons, our own life cycles.

Some of us did not have a childhood, it was interrupted, or taken from us.

Some of us are living our childhood in our adult years. Unable to graciously surrender the things of youth or we are too busy to appreciate the fruits of our labors, our children while they are young.  Procrastination. Isn't it about enjoying life in general while we still have our health and energy?

Our elder years can be a time of fear, of being unprepared, guilt,  nowhere to go, or failing health. Regret, unsaid and undone things, because we failed to prepare, forgot we are not going to live forever. This is a time we should have few concerns. Be elders; of service to those younger than us,telling children stories, being free to rest, being of counsel and nurturing to Mothers and Fathers.

Seems a little sad and backward, right?

There is a quote that I love:

Live your life so that the fear of death can never enter your heart. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the morning light. Give thanks for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. And if perchance you see no reason for giving thanks, rest assured the fault is in yourself.
Chief Tecumseh, Shawnee Indian Chief

Your deathbed is not the time to realize your regrets, it will be too late to change those things then.

Lets make a list, finish some of you life cycles.   Stop and play, enjoy the fruit of you labors, fly a kite, play in a sandbox, forgive someone, ask for forgiveness, be of service, feed the poor, babysit for a single parent, ask for advice from our elder community. The possibilities are endless.  We will be freed to be present in the moment, without regret, or guilt, or looking in the past.  Free to grow, and enjoy the cycles.
